HAPPY TUESDAY ✨✨ Bringing a cheesy cliché post-workout selfie to the grid because I ACTUALLY made it to the gym 🥳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After more than a week of illness and zero exercise (aside from walking to work- and even then I opted for the bus some days) I felt I was ready to get some moving-and-grooving back into my life so popped to the gym during my lunch-hour yesterday for a cheeky little lower body workout. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I won’t lie, the motivation to train was approx. 2/10 but I knew, I knew, I knewww, that I would feel so much better for doing it 😅 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s days like this that I’m very grateful that the gym is in the same building as my office (5 meters don’t the corridor to be precise), so at least getting there isn’t a hurdle like it used to be 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In all honesty, it wasn’t the best session I’ve ever had, but that wasn’t really the goal - it was more to get back in the routine, feel comfortable in that space again and break a sweat after some time off ✅ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was proof (to myself more than anything) that “you don’t have to go fast/big/strong...you *just* have to go” 👍🏼 and I feel much more motivated heading towards more sessions this week 💪🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A big fat YES to training for the mind 🧠 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hope you are all having a fantabulous week so far, team 💛💛 • • • #tuesday #tuesdaymotivation #mentalhealthawareness #trainhappy #intuitivemovement #braintraining #mentalstrength #mentalhealthmuscle #mhmcrew #stronggirlsclub #strong #motivation #personaltrainer #fitnesscoach #bristol #bristolfitness #bristolbloggers #fitnessblogger #positivementalattitude #positivity #liftyourself #girlgains #stressrelief #anxietymanagement
These are my #fitproconfessions... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️ I can‘t do more than one pull-up ⚡️ I can’t hold a handstand ⚡️ I can’t deadlift 100kg anymore ⚡️ I’m not really into sport ⚡️ I’m not a confident swimmer ⚡️ I have asthma ⚡️ I regularly regress my exercises ⚡️ I don’t have visible abs ⚡️ I struggle with yoga and meditation ⚡️ I’ve not had a regular workout split for months ⚡️ I’m a qualified personal trainer, not working as a personal trainer, but i think that still makes me a fitness professional. 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To qualify as a #fitpro I didn’t get picked out of a line-up for being the most aesthetically-appropriate. I wasn’t tested on my 1RM. I didn’t have to prove I could do 10 consecutive pull-ups. I passed exams based on knowledge. I proved my ability to keep people safe during exercise. To instruct and teach. To build rapport with clients. To be supportive and encouraging. “Molly, am I about to see you EAT CALORIES?!!” 🚨...A real, actual, question I was asked by a real actual colleague when I sat down at my desk with a slice of cake. I wish I was joking. 🙄 🗣 “...I bet you don’t eat biscuits, do you?” 🗣 “yes but you’re nice and slim so you can get away with it...” 🗣 “...oh you’re so *good*, I wish I had your willpower with food” These comments are not meant malicious. They are not *really* comments on MY, or YOUR food. These comments are projections of that persons OWN opinions and relationship with food and diet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m pretty secure in my relationship with food these days, but there was a time when comments like the above would been super triggering, one way or another. I’d feel guilty about he food I *was* eating, or I’d regret not making a different choice, blah blah blah. I know this is still the reality for a lot of people. And can be super hard to navigate at this time of year, when 99.7% of all social occasions are fuelled by food (or booze). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But stay in your own lane, safe in the knowledge that it’s not about you. It’s about them. Rather apt considering that, as I sit here with my coffee ☕️, I find myself dwelling on how much I *could have* achieved over the past few days, and haven’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BUT I caught the inevitable winter-cold last week 🤒 so have spent since Sunday lunchtime sat under a blanket on the sofa, watching re-runs of an old crime series on Amazon Prime and crocheting until my hand cramps - I’m aware this makes me sound like a premature 80-year-old, and I’m okay with it 👵🏼 #keepingitreal ✌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When you’re ill, your capacity for being productive will inevitably drop, and that’s okay. And even if you’re NOT poorly, if you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, sad, tired - however you’re feeling - it’s okay to have these days. So, a gentle reminder for myself and anyone else who needs it this morning: 🌼 You’re ALLOWED to have days where you’re not at your most productive. 🌼 giving yourself m an hour, a day, a week, or more to REST, is 100% okay. 🌼 You have NOT let yourself or anyone else down if you do not complete your to-do list today. 🌼 Your self-worth is not determined by how busy you feel. One girl. Five guys.😏😏 In all seriousness though, my first @fiveguysuk experience was a solid 10/10 🥳 but to be honest I was so hangry I probably could’ve eaten a my left shoe and been impressed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A tiny little voice in my head said “I know you’re really hungry and you’re in a bit of a rush, but you really should get something healthier”. Luckily, it’s getting a lot easier these days to shut that little voice up, put her on the naughty step, and my enjoy my cheeseburger without the side order of shame and guilt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And while I’m here; it’s not a ‘cheat meal’, it’s just dinner. What’s better than pizza? 🍕 FREE pizza (obviously) 🤩 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This week I entered a competition on Twitter to win free pizza for the office - and I won! 🥳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was always that kid who was always rubbishhh at the tombola at the school fair, and my Mum always used to say: (and @theerinword will back me up here)...”the only competition you can’t win, is the one you don’t enter” 🧐 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And she’s right (aren’t they always 🙄) In other words; YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU DON’T TRY ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been prone to not putting myself forward for things, not putting my hand up to opportunities, not writing a blog post, not trying something new...for fear of it not working out/going well/being successful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But you’ll never know, if you don’t give it a go. Those assumptions are your inner-critic speaking, albeit to keep you safe and comfortable, but we all know comfort zones are for pushing boundaries.
